My name is John Arnott and I am based in the Edinburgh area of Scotland. I specialise in signwriting, marbling, murals, and artwork. I was originally born in Newcastle upon Tyne but made the move to Edinburgh in 1984.

Throughout my life I have had many different types of jobs, ranging from automotive work to being a prawn trawlerman, however I had always had a passion for producing artworks of different types.

Initially I travelled around Australia, finding commissions as I went. These included many murals, hand painted signs and pieces of artwork for backpackers' hostels, and I was eventually invited to appear on Australian television to feature the murals that I had painted for one hostel.

In 1991, I decided to study signwriting, attendeding Telford College in Edinburgh for two years, studying traditional signwriting and murals.. I was lucky enough to be tutored by Alec Taylor and Jeff Brown, two excellent signwriters and teachers.

Since leaving college I have been self employed, further developing my artwork and moving into additional areas. The newer sides to my work including the wildlife, marbling, pencil drawings and murals are entirely self-taught.

My other interests include classical and fingerstyle guitar, which I have played for over twenty five years, alternative therapies and close-up card magic.
